TIMED-SHOOT COMPETITION

6:00PM TO 9:30PM

 

Range Master of Santa Maria presents……

 

The once-a-month indoor run and gun match!

 

When: Tuesday, OCT 28th: sign-ups start at 6:00 PM and end promptly at 9:30 PM.  The shooters meeting will be at 6:10 PM. The first shooter starts at 6:15 PM.  The shoot should be over prior to 9:30 pm, it is a school night for all of those junior shooters out there.

*Anyone who shows up late may be allowed to catch-up at the end of the match.

 

What: This match consists of 3 to 2 shooting stages:

The first a warm up, the second a fun shoot but still on the clock, the last will usually be a strong hand/weak hand only stage.

 

Be prepared to shoot and have fun!!

 

Firearms allowed: Either rim fire or center fire, center fire must draw from holster and rim fire either draws from holster or starts from the low ready position. In the case of stage mandatory reloads, any shooter using single action revolver may use 2 single action revolvers instead of mandatory reloading.

 

Scoring: Each competitor will be competing against everyone else in all categories of firearm for overall top shooter. Scores are a combination of speed and accuracy.

 

Range competition rules must be observed at all times during match, firearms will only be handled at safe table or on firing line at the Range offices direction!

 

Ammo: This will be a 35 round minimum match, with only the 2nd stage being unlimited rounds, the other stages will be rounds limited. There will be ammo available to buy at the range!

 

Cost: There will be an entry fee of $5.00 for range members, $7.00 for non members. This will cover some of the match costs.

 

Stage designs and stage specific rules will be posted @ RangeMaster of Santa Maria prior to the start of the match.

 

 

 

Indoor Match Rules

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Competitor Eligibility – All competitors must be cleared by RangeMasters’s management before competing.

 

 

2.      Match Director – The Match Director will have full charge of the range and will conduct the matches on scheduled dates. He is responsible for range safety and the enforcement of all rules.

 

 

3.      Range Officers – The range officer is responsible for the safety of range personnel, competitors and spectators in the sector of the range he has been assigned. His duties include:

a)      Call up competitors to the firing line.

 

 

b)      Checks firearms to make sure they are unloaded and safe.

 

 

c)      Give necessary range commands.

 

 

d)      Is responsible for the accurate recording of shots and scoring of results.

 

 

e)      Receives protests and passes them on to the Match Director.

 

 

4.      Safety – Safety rules shall be strictly enforced. Two violations in any single match is an automatic disqualification. Safety violations will include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:

a)      Pointing an unloaded handgun up range.

 

 

b)      Dropping of an unloaded handgun.

 

 

c)      Leaving the firing area with a loaded handgun.

 

 

d)      Any accidental discharge. This includes discharges while loading or clearing a handgun.

 

 

e)      Unsafe gun handling or handling of a firearm anywhere except under the supervision of  the range officer or qualified store personnel.

 

f)   The handling of ammo at the safe table.

 

g)   The loading of mags/moonclips/speed loaders on the firing line.

 

 

            Immediate disqualification violations will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

a)      Pointing a loaded handgun up range breaking the 180.The 180 is an

imaginary line separating up range from down range.

 

 

b)      Dropping a loaded handgun.

 

 

c)      Any shot fired into the ground less than six feet down range from the

firing line or in a direction deemed unsafe by the Range Officer.

 

 

d)      Displays disruptive behavior or is abusive (verbal or otherwise)

towards the Match Director, Range Officers, another competitor or spectator.

 

 

e)      Picking up a dropped handgun, except under the direction of a Range Officer or Match Director.

 

           

     

 

 

 

 

5.      Range Commands:

a)      Load and make ready – The shooter may now take a sight picture, load

      his firearm and assume the starting position as defined in the course

      of fire.

 

 

b)   Are you ready – The Range Officer asks if the shooter is prepared to

                              proceed. If the shooter is not ready to proceed, it is the shooters

                              responsibility to inform the Range Officer that he is not prepared.

                              When the shooter does not respond negatively to this question, the

                              Range Officer will assume the shooter is ready.

 

 

                        c)   Stand by – This is the verbal signal given by the Range Officer to the

                              shooter that the start signal will follow soon.

 

 

d)      Start signal – The signal for the shooter to start the course of fire. The

signal will be an audible signal from an electronic timing device.

 

 

                        e)  Unload and show clear  and bag or holster– The shooter will unload and hold firearm in

a position that allows the Range Officer to confirm the firearm is unloaded. The shooter will then holster or bag the firearm.

                       

                        g)   Range is cold – This command given by the Range Officer(s) indicates

                              the range is safe. No one should move forward on the range until this

                              command is given.

 

 

8.   Firearms, Equipment and Ammunition

a)      Firearms – All handguns used in competition shall be serviceable and safe.

 

 

b)      Ammunition – Handloads may be used. Any ammunition used must be

loaded within safe limitations for the handgun to be used.

 

 

c)      Ear Protection – All competitors and other personnel in the immediate

vicinity of the firing line are required to wear ear plugs, ear muffs or

similar ear protection.

 

 

d)      Eye Protection – All competitors and other personnel anywhere on the range are required to wear eye protection.

 

 

e)      Holsters – Holsters are permitted.

 

 

 

 

Note:  These rules should be considered as guidelines only and are subject to change by the Match Director if necessary in the interests of safety, sportsmanship or other consideration.
